The magazine “Business Destinations” has chosen Alfândega Congress Centre in Porto as the best European meetings and conference centre for 2014. The building is the old customs house and sits in central Porto right on top of the river Douro. In the conversion to a conference and meetings centre, the old features of the building have been preserved and it still has an industrial feel to it, with stone floors and exposed brickwork in the downstairs exhibition areas as well as more comfortable and attractive meeting rooms upstairs.

There are a total of 22 separate rooms/halls making a total space of 40,000 square meters, with the capacity to have events for up to 4000 people. Access is possible without driving through the centre of Porto and is around 15 minutes from the international airport. There are also several hotels within walking distance.
